IH 27 at Yucca Lane Bridge Replacement
Garver provides CEI services for projects that improve safety in Lubbock County, TX
Garver’s Field Services Team provided construction engineering inspection (CE&I) services for the Texas Department of Transportation, improving three IH 27 bridges near Yucca Lane in Lubbock, Texas to better serve the community and meet updated TxDOT standards.
This $24.3 million initiative aimed to enhance mobility and safety by replacing three deteriorating bridge structures that provided access to a country club, an economic development group, and major distribution centers in the area.
Key improvements included demolishing and reconstructing Yucca Lane Bridge to raise its clearance to 18.5 feet to meet updated freight corridor standards, constructing braided ramps for enhanced traffic flow and to ensure new design requirements, and adjusting the elevation of the I-27 northbound and southbound frontage roads.
Garver’s local Field Services Team kept the community informed during construction, sending regular updates and public notices regarding traffic impacts well in advance of peak travel times. These proactive communications also provided project stakeholders with timeline forecasts and budget check-ins, ensuring proper prioritization of time and resources.
The end result? Garver’s ability to stay ahead of challenges and dedication to community improvement led to the I-27 Yucca Lane Bridge project’s completion a full year ahead of schedule.
